“Step 1. Make yourself eligible – meaning there is a state, place, pattern and vibrational match for everything in this world. We can only recognize and understand what we at least have an association with. You have to make the effort to “come closer” to the people, beings and nature whom can teach you about yourself and spirituality by coming closer to their world of associations and ways of living. You build eligibility for step 2.
- Result: All areas of your life will improve with even the slightest effort; mentally, physically, how you act and re-act in the world and in relationships.”
This post is probably the most important one for us who live in societies which do not promote spirituality; since on top of that they usually promote lifestyles that take up all your time to just sustain and leave no space for “the beyond”.
It is here where it all starts. Often a feeling of “There must be more”, “I want to know what this world actually is”, “Is there true love?”, “Who and what am I really?”, “What should I do when I am feeling stuck?”, “What can I really do to change my life?”, “Are there really authentic Yogis out there?”, “What is the meaning of my existence?”, “How can I help others to also feel good and be more free and healthy?”, “If there is any real ancient wisdom and guidance, where is it?”
When we see that there are more questions than answers, when we are eager to learn, when we love to get to know and explore beautiful things, when we might have had misery and difficult times and still survived through realising bits and pieces of ourselves………we know that there is more to unveil.
This unveiling through experiences and practices is our spiritual growth. It can also be felt as a peeling off of layers of your believed self, stripping you down to your most essential core. Beyond naked, beyond flesh and bones, emotions and mind. Are you not intrigued to know what is there, when nothing of what you thought was real is there anymore? Only when noThing is left of the illusions of self we go beyond and come closer to the everlasting, so called truth.
First step is to take action from your own initiative and from where you are. If you are lucky you might be inspired by somebody, a place, a book, a tragedy or extreme overwhelming luck (synchronicity/blessing/guidance). During this life time you have been inspired and guided by many people and beings to be where you are now. The when, what and how differs from person to person. All that matters is that at some point the force of inspiration and guidance becomes so great that it helps you to take the first conscious baby steps on your path. The beginning of a spiritual journey.
In the category of Eligibility I have written a list of subjects and practical things one can do and learn about to make oneself eligible for further guidance and spiritual growth. This is to help yourself focus and prepare yourself to receive guidance.
- Seva to oneself
- Self compassion and patience
- Preparing body, mind, consciousness
- Yoga Asanas
- Time in solitude
- Time in nature
- Adequate and healthy food for specific purposes
- Managing and cleansing environments
- The arts – singing, musical instruments, dancing, painting, poetry, literature etc.
- Devotional arts – and knowing the difference to ordinary arts
- Seva to society
- Knowledge of Karma
- Knowledge of Sanatana Dharma
- Knowledge about science and material world
- Knowledge about History
- Praising the elements.
- Offerings at the right time and place
- Fulfilling duties, family, “dependents”, children, spouse /partner, elderlies
If I just leave you with this list without any further explaining or instructions it will still be valuable and a quick google search will give you examples of many ways to practice. But this does raise the questions; What pranayamas? Which mantra, when? How? What is karma in reality? What is Sanatana Dharma, is wiki reliable? Etc etc..
In a few posts in the category of Eligibility I will post a few easy and straight forward suggestions connected to most subjects on the list above and you can choose to practice what appeals to you. These are suggestions I have gotten from either Ishaputra himself or helpful Bhairavs and Bhairavis of Kaulantak Peeth with the hearts and knowledge to explain in ways that my western upbringing can understand. (I am forever thankful for your blessed time)
Whatever I share in coming posts is not even a small fraction of the deeper knowledge and layers to these subjects. I have come to understand that even one single mantra can be a revolutionary topic worth covering in depth, where several days is not even enough!
Everything from the “right kind of information” to infinite layers of deeper knowledge to specific directions suitable for each and everyone one of us on this path leads to the concept of “Guru” and Guru initiation. See info in the category “Guru & Initiation”
Please practice compassion and patience with yourself. The above list is only meant to expand your minds association bank to know the beauty of all possible ways to serve yourself. Only do things if you are inspired. If you easily get “over-inspired” with schedules and typical “consuming” mind set of I WILL DO IT ALL NEXT WEEK. Then read the post about Self compassion and patience.
